Is it bad if we do not brush our teeth in the evening?

It is known to everyone: we should brush our teeth at least morning and evening to be able to use them even in a few decades. But is it really bad if we forget our dental hygiene in the evening? The simple answer is yes!

Lack of dental hygiene can have long-term consequences

Although you do not get caries directly, if you forget the cleaning. Nevertheless, food particles and other bacteria deposit in the mouth, which multiply overnight. This is due to the decreased flow of saliva during the night, which makes the oral cavity more vulnerable and the protective function less. The proliferating bacteria in turn develop acids that attack the enamel.

If the teeth are not cleaned for a long time or only superficially cleaned, there is also a build-up on the teeth called plaque - which can not be removed after a certain amount of time. In the long term, it can lead to serious gingivitis (periodontitis) and persistent bad breath.

All in all, we should ALWAYS brush our teeth in the evening and make sure that it takes about 20 minutes between eating and cleaning. Especially if we ate citrus fruits, as they attack the enamel.
