Gold that makes happy: why fries are awesome!
Maybe it's because I come from the Ruhr area, where there is a chip shop on every corner. In any case, a bowl full of golden fries has always made me very satisfied in no time. I know that acrylamide is said to be carcinogenic, makes my favorite food thick, and destroys all of the potato's vitamins. But I do not care, Just the thought of the feeling of a crispy fries in my mouth makes me extremely satisfied.
It is said that children like to eat things they can easily put in their mouths. Same for me. Maybe that's why I love french fries. Besides, they are my natural means of rebelling. At a time when everyone is consuming as much mundane chia seeds, low carbohydrate protein bread and trendy bowls, they are my very personal act of revolution, Exaggerated one could say: They mean my departure from the everlasting self-optimization, my little break from the adult and reasonable, my outcry against the fitness mania. In fact, I eat them especially with great pleasure.
Real fries, not the wobbly oven scammers
French fries at 40 taste just as good as they did at four. Even the slight nausea after enjoying too many of the great potato sticks I enjoy somehow. It is as much a part of it as salt, mayo and ketchup. Incidentally, I mean "real" fries. Ideally, the simple but honest variant of a real snack with me around the corner. Not the bad imitations of fast food chains, the fancy sweet potato variety with peanut sauce or those wobbly oven scammers. Nice hot and greasy they have to be, with a good bite.
If I were not already married to someone, I would choose this food for a first date. You can take it anywhere, eat it easily, it does not distract in its opulence from the true essence of the meeting. Incidentally, that brings me to an idea: At the next Date Night with my love, I propose the snack on the corner. My husband is really good at eating french fries. That's probably why we've been together for so long (at least among others).
