Filmfest München: "Wackersdorf" convinces the audience the most

The 36th Munich Film Festival is history. After ten days, 220 film screenings with a total of 80,000 visitors and numerous industry events around the actual Filmfest, the event ended on Saturday evening in Gasteig in Munich with another glamorous event. In the Carl-Orff-Saal there, several awards were handed over in a solemn ceremony at the "Award Ceremony".

The winner of the evening was the film "Wackersdorf" with actors including Fabian Hinrichs (44), Florian Brückner (34) and Johannes Zeiler (48). The film was awarded the coveted Audience Award of the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and the cultural radio station Bayern 2. The BR television director dr. Reinhard Scolik was then satisfied: "The audience award at the Munich Film Festival for the BR co-production 'Wackersdorf' I am very pleased."

It shows how a committed, political film can reach viewers and be a big Bavarian cinema. The film is about what happened around the village in the 1980s, when a broad alliance of citizens and activists rebelled against the nuclear reprocessing plant planned there and even accepted the escalation with the state power.

Filmfest in Munich should continue to grow

By the way, the Munich Film Festival is set to continue growing next year. Even more international stars are to be lured to the Bavarian state capital. Already this year, Emma Thompson (59) and Terry Gilliam (77) found their way to the capital of the Isar. But that should not be the end: a budget increase of around three million euros should make this possible.
