The Equalizer 2: Denzel Washington (k) A man for sequels?

First of all: filmically, "The Equalizer 2" (theatrical release: August 16) with Denzel Washington (63) is hard to beat in banality. The same hero makes the same things with decals of the same bad guys from Part One. Even the first appearance of the "Equalizer" was not a contender for the Innovation Award in times of other aging avenging angels of the brand Liam Neeson (66) in "Taken" or Keanu Reeves (53) in "John Wick". But as paradoxical as it may sound: that the story about the "Equalizer" has not remained unique makes it special again in other ways.

Play it again, Denzel!

Although Washington has been in the Hollywood business since the late 1970s and has appeared in over 50 productions so far, "The Equalizer 2" will be the first sequel to feature the Oscar winner. The reason for this is pragmatic: "I was never asked" quotes the site "Variety" the star. But that's not quite true, as he immediately admitted: "The only time I was asked was for 'Save House', but that did not make sense because my character died, so they were thinking of a prequel."

And apparently, the chances are good that the "equalizer" will also be Washington's first triple. That's what screenwriter Richard Wenk (62) said about "Variety": "The idea is to choose an international setting if there's a third part." In any case, in his opinion, the story of the righteous angel of revenge, even after part two, is still far from being told - whether Mr Washington will see a similar picture will be shown. In any case, it should not fail because of a lack of requests.

That's what "The Equalizer 2" is about

Robert McCall (Washington) is considered the patron saint of the poor and oppressed. Where the police can not help or help corrupt cops, the one-man army set out to take the law into their own hands. After the events of the first part, he has established himself as a taxi driver a contemplative life, but he offers his unique services as a part-time on the Internet.

However, demons from his own past quickly tear him out of his new everyday life. His good friend and former CIA colleague Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) was found murdered. McCall quickly realizes that there were professionals at work here who are after Susan's husband Brian (Bill Pullman). While he saves the widower from certain death, the "equalizer" of course tries to hold the murderers of his ex-colleague to account. For this he has to deal with his own past as well as with an old companion (Pedro Pascal).
