Fashion for best agers, that is often still wasteland in the fashion industry. Apart from practical leisure wear in muted shades and dresses with floral patterns, most designers do not think much about it. The young, French designer Fanny Karst cleans up with the fashionable age stereotypes and designs for her London label "The Old Ladies Rebellion" refreshingly modern clothing for women who have no desire for textile boredom. After completing her fashion design studies at the renowned "Central Saint Martins College", the 28-year-old has been devoting extravagant patterns and provocative slogans à la "See you next year, perhaps!" To elegantly cut dresses and dresses housing modern blouson jackets. ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN tells her about her revolutionary idea and her cool clients.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN: What kind of clothes did your grandmother like to wear?

Fanny Karst: My maternal grandmother was not particularly trend-conscious, but elegant and always concerned about her external appearance in a special and very special way. She always wanted to maintain an attitude at all costs. Her clothes were practical and classic, most of them were donated by her daughters.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN: How did you come up with the idea of designing modern and young clothes for older women?

Fanny Karst: I have always had great respect for the older generation. Stylishly dressed women of advanced age fascinate me. Often I even find that they wear beautiful dresses much more elegantly and with more grace than younger women do. As a result, it soon became clear to me during my studies that I wanted to design fashion for exactly these ladies.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN: What are your customers like?

Fanny Karst: My customers are very cool, self-confident, fashionable and like to catch their clothes. They have found their inner center and say, "I carry what I want!"

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN: Unfortunately, fashion for older women is often anything but fashionable and modern, but above all inconspicuous.

Fanny Karst: I think we are in the middle of fashion change. My grandmother, who of course belongs to the post-war generation, already dressed like an old lady when she was 50 years old. With hair undulated underneath the dryer hood and all the trimmings. My mother, in turn, grew up with the Rolling Stones and has a very different, much more open attitude to fashion and now, when she is 50, is completely different from her mother. In turn, the fashion industry is often not ready to recognize it. Unfortunately, because I hate so sad colors like beige.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde WOMAN: Do you know what you want to wear when you're 60 years old?

Fanny Karst: Honestly, I'm already looking forward to being 60 years old. I imagine it as a kind of second freedom: the children are out of the house and I can start again. Beautiful, extravagant dresses will be my uniform, so no one will think of calling me an old box!
