What a milestone for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. On November 20, 2017, the royal couple celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. And behind this long time hides a romantic love story.

In 1939, the then 13-year-old should have an eye on Philip, her third cousin thrown. She was on a holiday trip with her parents and sister Margaret. They also stopped at the Marine College in Dartmouth, where their parents attended an official ceremony and they and Margaret were catered to by the cadet Philip.

"She could not take her eyes off him!"

It was love at first sight. A governess later told that Elizabeth "could not keep her eyes off him." The two allegedly started writing love letters shortly after they finally announced their engagement on July 9, 1947, and married on November 20 of the same year.



Her love was not always welcome. This was partly due to the German relatives of the bridegroom, who after the Second World War a lot of evil. On the other hand, it was also due to his free spirit. With his unflinching manner and wit, Philip struck so many times in the royal circles.
