Duchess Meghan: Will she be officially honored as a style icon soon?
Duchess Meghan (36) is not only since her wedding with Prince Harry (33) celebrated as a style icon. Ever since the first reports about the relationship of the former actress with the British Royal, the style of the native US-American has been scrutinized and acclaimed. What she wears, everyone wants to have - her outfits are sold out soon. She also appears to be making an impression on the teenagers around the world: she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award 2018 in the category "Choice Style Icon". That did not make any Royal before her.
That's their competition
The Duchess of Sussex, however, has to compete with other, high-profile fashion role models. First and foremost, actress Blake Lively (30, "Gossip Girl"), ex-one-directional member Harry Styles (24) and "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman (40). In addition, ex-Disney stars Zendaya (21, "The Greatest Showman") and the hip-hop trio Migos - which has triple style expertise.
Whether Duchess Meghan prevails in this concentrated competition remains to be seen. The Teen Choice Awards will be presented on August 12th. For the winners, teenagers ages 13 to 19 can vote online.
Who wonders why Princess Diana (1961-1997), the mother of Meghan's husband Prince Harry, who was also revered as a style icon, was never nominated for a Teen Choice Award as a "Choice Style Icon": the award ceremony was not launched until 1999 called, two years after her death.
