Contra: "Yoga? Nothing for me!"

"Love yoga, I really tried it with you, I thought you could complete my sport program perfectly: I cycle, do some step aerobics and Zumba - but nothing for strength and relaxation High time, I thought we'd go But then, in my first yoga class, I was supposed to breathe in golden fountains and look for my third eye - and felt pretty silly - maybe I lacked the necessary spiritual seriousness, but I had to laugh at Ommm singing That was also relaxing, but gave me scowling glances.



My good mood lasted until the "turtle", in which crouches your arms and legs in the squat in the most horrible: I failed. That could not work for me, the yoga teacher told me my arms were too short. Am I mistaken, or did the yoga nerd next to me in the lilac-colored pants smirk pitifully-from-top-down when she heard that? Of course, she herself had long since taken the "turtle" and breathed in through her nose and out through her mouth (or was it the other way around ?!).

Even with seemingly simple exercises such as the "looking-down dog" I did not make an elegant figure, I could see that at a glance in the mirror. It remains a mystery to me how one should "relax into position" in such an undignified position.



When the trainer asked me after the lesson how I liked it, I took refuge in: "I think there is still a long way to go for me." The lady replied with a soulful smile, "I have been doing yoga for 20 years and still am not at the finish line." Was I just too impatient with you, loving yoga? I made a second attempt: During the Portugal holiday, I wanted to enjoy the sunrise with you. At half past seven in the morning, at a windy 15 degrees barefoot on the roof terrace, I felt less spiritual enlightened but rather just before freezing, and I still did not get the "turtle". After that it was clear to me: Dear Yoga, you and me, we just do not fit together. In sports, I do not want to sing nor knot, but just sweat. And in the fresh air (with a windproof jacket!) I can definitely relax better than with Ommm and incense. For the rest of my vacation, I enjoyed the sunrise asleep in bed. "
