"The entire Cirque-du-Soleil family is in shock and shaken by this tragedy," the circus told Twitter. Subsequent shows were canceled. The circus wanted to clarify as quickly as possible, how it could come to this tragic accident. At the moment, it looks like Arnaud just lost his grip as he swung a rope across the stage with one hand gripping a ring.

Whether the Cirque du Soleil will now draw the conclusion from this misfortune, to increase the security precautions, is to be doubted. Only in 2013 an acrobat died at a show in Las Vegas ...

Wife and daughter mourn for the artist

One day before the performance, the Frenchman had posted a picture of himself on Instagram. He wrote about how much he looked forward to finally being able to present a new number in the program. He and his colleagues had been training hard for so long.

As can be seen from his social media profiles, the 38-year-old had a wife and a small daughter. The circus wants to help the relatives as much as possible, it said in the Twitter post.

We wish the bereaved on everyone all the power and love of this world, to deal with this heavy blow of fate!
