10 years Facebook: Thanks for the stories!

A red profile picture for same-sex love

Thousands of users replaced their Facebook profile image in March 2013 with the logo of the Human Rights Campaign: with the color red (for love) and the pink equal sign, they demonstrated their solidarity with same-sex couples. Concrete figures, how many people have participated, do not exist. But Facebook announced that the day after the call compared to average Tuesdays about 2.7 million users more exchanged their image.

When she was born in 1904, the first long-distance telephone call across the United States was over ten years old. At the time, we could not even imagine Jules Vernes, who could have met Ms. Strugnell in person just in time. On August 6, 2013, the great-great-grandmother happily holds her iPad in her hands, and looks forward to having a direct line into the digital world. The Facebook profile was arranged by her great-granddaughter Debbie Turner, who also provided her with the iPad. For Ms. Strugnell, this sudden connection to her big family was "like magic" - and more spectacular than the now tenth birthday card the Queen sent her during her lifetime. On October 25, 2013, Lily Strugnell passed away, with countless condolences coming to her side that day.

Today, Grumpy Cat has 3,416,544 Facebook fans, its own star on the "Walk of Fame" and a wisdom, or rather a meme, ready for any situation.

Today, around 75 million virtual farmers take care of their farms. An end to the hype is not in sight.

"If you had behaved differently, it would not have happened to you." Regular rape victims are silenced with such sentences.
