Sports Underwear: Drunter preferred plastic

The reason: Cotton does not dissipate the sweat, but the fabric is wet and therefore especially in winter cold and unpleasant on the skin. As Stiftung Warentest discovered, cotton and synthetic mixed materials are also less suitable than pure plastic: only novel plastic fibers are able to channel the sweat outwards, where it can evaporate instead of sticking to the skin.

Plastic is not the same as plastic. In a recent study, the testers took a close look at 16 products, only five of which were rated as recommendable. Material of the best products: pure polyester. At the top are "Gonso Hightex Thermo" and "Odlo warm". With 80 or 98 euros for long underpants and sleeve shirt, the test winners, however, are not offered at a bargain price. Cheaper alternative: The third-place Globetrotter underwear "Four Seasons Classic" costs 60 euros.

"Down" plus real "over there"

So that you do not freeze while jogging, but it is not only on the right "down" on. Stiftung Warentest recommends that outdoor sports be based on the principle of onions: A layer of cotton or wool is added to the sports underwear for warming, and above that a protective layer against icy wind or precipitation, for example a breathable rain jacket.

Also important: The synthetic underwear must not be washed with fabric softener, otherwise it loses part of their functionality, because fabric softener puts a water-repellent film on the fabric.
