But do not worry, the lack of light can also be easier to prevent - for example, with walks. Light and fresh air promote our good mood enormously. And even if it is not always easy to motivate for a walk on cold and gray winter days: already 30 minutes a day can reduce the bad mood!

Sport makes you happy

That sport makes happy, is well known, hard-boiled runners even talk of an inner intoxication. The fact is that the happiness hormones dopamine, serotonin and endorphin are secreted by physical activity and remain present for a long time. This explains, among other things, the satisfied feeling that one has after a training insert.



With regular exercise, fatigue and fatigue decrease significantly and it also has a positive effect on our psyche. Ideally, you go jogging outside, so the body benefits not only from sports, but also from the fresh air.

To eat healthy food

Each of us knows the untold sense of inertia that can cause unhealthy eating. In particular, very greasy food strains the body during digestion. Due to the cold temperatures and the lack of sun, we already feel tired and tired in the winter anyway. Therefore, it is even more important to pay attention to a vitamin and fiber rich diet. This does not do the body good, but also strengthens the immune system.

Speaking of vitamins - in particular to combat the vitamin D deficiency, helps against the winter blues. Although a large part of the vitamin should be absorbed by sunlight, diet can also be prevented here. For example, salmon, herring, eggs or mushrooms are suitable for this purpose.



St. John's Wort

If all that does not help, there is a tried and tested home remedy for the winter blues: St. John's wort. The herb has been used as a medicinal herb since antiquity and is often used in mild depression. It increases our photosensitivity, allowing us to absorb and store more light. In this way unavoidable lack of light in winter can be better combated and compensated. Even if the drug is available over the counter, an application should be discussed in advance with the family doctor.
