Stompin 'Souls

Stompin 'Souls "And It's Looking Like A Lot Like Nothing At All"

Release: 28.03.08

Mando Diao has the success gone upside down? Then let the boys lie left until they get grounded again and greet the Stompin 'Souls. Five rocking Swedes, who do not necessarily keep up visually with their famous compatriots, but they do not have to. Musically, they always do it. On "And It's Looking A Lot Like Nothing At All", they wave their 12 tracks at us, that nothing stands still, which is not nailed down. Absolutely authentic garage band rock whose roots from the sixties and seventies are unmistakable. No indie heart will be able to miss this year's hit "Put Me On, Bring Me Out".

Valerie "picnic"

Release: 07.03.08

Envy, envy, envy. Valerie, born in Vienna, grew up in Moscow, speaks fluent German, English, French and Russian and has just completed her law studies in Paris at the age of 22. Now, seven years later, she can look back on an impressive career as a musician. But their musical past interests us less than their future. It started on March 7 with her solo debut "Picnic". 14 tracks between pop, easy-listening and chanson - plus a pinch of bossa nova and disco in German and French. Sometimes cheesy, sometimes ironic and somehow always a bit poetic. Curious? Just grab it in the picnic basket - listen:

Zascha Moktan "The Bottom Line"

Release: 14.03.08

Zascha Moktan has scrounged countless record labels in Germany and was always dismissed with the same commentary: "the music of the singer and pianist is far too American". So her musical career was first without a record deal, but the more bombastic going on: As a support act, she toured with Alicia Keys across the Americas. The first contracts wave, but Zascha waves off. Too many artistic concessions would have to make them across the Atlantic. That's why the German-Nepali woman comes back to Germany and finally gets her first offer here. American is the soulful pop music on "The Bottom Line" still. But that seems to be no problem anymore, luckily.

Hooverphonic "The Presidents Of The LSD Golf Club"

Release: 20.03.08

"You better move on" sings singer Geike Arnaert again and again on track 4 "Circles" of the current Hooverphonic album "The Presidents Of The LSD Golf Club". An advice that the Belgians themselves took to heart and this time have omitted all that has accompanied them musically: no more computers, no synthesizers, no orchestra. It should become a real studio album and it has become. Since Maundy Thursday is the eighth album of the Belgian response to Portishead, Moloko and Massive Attack in the shops. Sometimes melancholic as Portishead, then again as light as Echobelly and altogether tight atmospherically like Massive Attack - Hooverphonic has dared ... and won.

Fat bread "Power and urge"

www.fettesbrot.de

The first single release "Bettina, please dress yourself something" had already suggested that we expect a novel bread sound. But if you listen to the beats of the first title "Better burn than freeze," you are quite surprised. "We are young, we are free, this is our city" it roars and you only want one thing: to dance along, groan and carelessly through the night. The first part of the record, for example, is packed with unusual electro, pop and dance elements and goes straight from the ear canal to the leg muscles with rhythm-laden songs. Quieter sounds, on the other hand, are in "Do you hear me?" struck, a hymn to people who should not be forgotten. And if you listen more closely, then behind this record is much more than wild nod and hitchhike. Once again, the Nordic hip-hop trio has managed to rhyme their critical view of society and combine it with "dance and sound" with danceable sound.

Stefanie Heinzmann "Master Plan"

Release: 07.03.08

Of course, "Masterplan" was not created in years of sweaty work in the provisionally furnished home studio by Stefanie Heinzmann. And she did not have to spend half her life penniless through the republic until her musical breakthrough. Stefanie Heinzmann is the winner of Stefan Raab's "SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD" and, besides a really good voice, has incredible luck. Basically, the 14 tracks on "Masterplan" were a mix of pop, funk, soul and jazz, but the 19-year-old was once again able to lend a hand herself and even smuggle a song of her brother into the album with "Xtal". The result is an entertaining, sometimes too smooth debut with a strong voice.

Soul Chemistry "Discovery"

Release: 28.03.08

Granted, Soulchemistry is not a light fare and heart-warming does not want to get along well with the coolness of the project members. Crossed arms, sunglasses and / or hood on the face, as well as a motionless facial expression must be due to authenticity. We look away from it and look or rather listen to the music: A total of 18 tracks are on Discovery. Including real treasures for the headphones and dance floor. A successful club sound mix of cool electro house beats, rap and soulful hip hop vocals. Stereo MC? S for advanced users or those who want to go deeper into the genre.
