This hair product we use (almost) all - although we do not need it

Conditioner, hair oil, dry shampoo - we use tons of hair products every day to get the most out of our mane. But do we really need it all? Clear answer: No! At least when it comes to celebrity stylist Luke Hersheson. He has styled familiar faces like Victoria Beckham and Keira Knightley and knows exactly what we would rather not do with our hair.

In his own book "Great Hair Days & How To Have Them" he reveals a few tricks and first-hand tips. One of these is this one: We should NOT use a brush while blow-drying.

No way! The reason: Hair brushes strain and damage the hair when wet. Besides, the brush does not help us to get it into shape. At least not if the hair is still dry to the touch.

Use hands instead of brush

The hair must first be dried to 95 percent, so you can get in shape. That's why you can only get your hairbrush out when the majority is already dry. If you really want to style the hair with a brush, you should choose the round brush or a paddle brush, depending on your hairstyle. Generally, Hersheson recommends, "It's better to blow dry your hair and use your hands until it's completely dry." Then you can use a straightener or curling iron to style your hair.

But even if you use your hands as a brush replacement while blow-drying, you should pay attention to two things:

For straight hair: Keep the hair tighter and dry in the direction your hair should fall. But beware: Do not pull your hair too hard - they do not like that.

For volume: Hold the nozzle of the hair dryer close to the scalp and always place your hair in the opposite direction over the head. It then föhn in the "wrong" direction, to produce more volume on the top of the head. But please do not blow dry too hot!

Less is sometimes more

Of course you should not forget the heat protection spray before blow-drying - otherwise you really do not need anything. Even if there are a thousand different products on the market. With our hair less is definitely more. In addition, it may not always be the most expensive products that conjure up the most beautiful result. These are our favorites:
