Teacher wears the same dress for 100 days? to teach their students a lesson!

In September 2018, art teacher Julia Mooney started a challenge that sounds harsh to many people: OneOutfit100days. Julia's goal: to make her students aware of what, how much, and why they consume. "Let's spend our energy on doing good instead of looking good", is the motto of their challenge.

So Julia set a good example and from September 2018 onwards, dressed in the same gray dress for a hundred days: William Allen Middle School (where she works), at home, for shopping.

The 34-year-old is married, has three children and lives with them in a house built in the 1930s in a suburb in the US where they keep eight chickens. She is a teacher, artist and doula. Her motto: You can not grow without challenges.

What matters to her: the environment. The consumer society refers to them on their website as a "culture of excess": we consume, consume and consume? without us really needing all those things. First of all clothes. "There is no rule that says we have to wear something different every day," said Julia, for example USA Today. "Why do we expect that from each other?"
