Social projects on the Internet

Together we can achieve more - the principle is as well known as it is plausible. If you transfer it to the social networks, you can increase the help and support for actions. The social network multiplies the reach and connects people with equal interests around the world. You do not just get more but much more. We introduce you to some small and larger projects that could be implemented thanks to social networks.

The 19-minute violin

Peter Breuer, advertiser and well-known Twitter word acrobat, shared with his followers the photo of a supermarket poster: An eight-year-old girl wanted to sell her sticker collection to save on a violin. Within a few, exactly 19 minutes, the followers offered him not only an instrument, but also money for the first lessons.

The excavated teddy

It is a thriller that many follow fans of the author Julia Karnick: On a drive to Innsbruck lost her daughter's favorite stuffed animal. Without further ado, the former ChroniquesDuVasteMonde columnist launched a call via Facebook and also asked a truck driver group for help. Leo, the stuffed animal, probably disappeared at a motorway service area. A short time later, truck driver Thomas, who found and picked up the runaway, reported. Leo accompanied Thomas on his tour and was then sent back to Hamburg. Unfortunately, he lost again on the way home? So it remains exciting.

A virtual dyke

The flood in 2013 devastated entire areas of Germany. ChroniquesDuVasteMonde.com community user bunt_Kuh no longer wanted to sit helplessly in front of the TV, but help. She was spontaneously committed to the victims of the flood and invented the fundraising campaign "We build a virtual dyke". Against a donation for the flood victims, she designed digital sandbags. Within a few days, about 5,000 euros came together.

Handball jerseys with surprise

Handball fan Daniel Untermann also wanted to ask his friends on Facebook for support for a fundraiser in favor of the flood victims of Germany's 2013 flood. A tick not set and already the action was public. Suddenly numerous handball clubs of the Bundesliga came forward and donated jerseys for the fundraising. That was not just talked about in handball circles? Also professional footballer Mario Gomez offered his Champions League jersey for auctioning.

Make the invisible visible

The blog "Invisible People" tells the personal stories of the homeless and those who help them. For example, Waterman-Dave, who has distributed drinking water to homeless people in San Diego for 13 years. The blog gives people who live on the street a face, a voice, and points out how their living conditions are and how any fellow citizen can improve them.

Social patchworking for kids

For ChroniquesDuVasteMonde blogger Freddy, participation in this campaign was, of course, a matter of honor: when the organization called Farbtupfer e.V. for social upcycling, it immediately resorted to scraps of fabric and a sewing machine. Together with many sewing enthusiasts she created around 50 patchwork blankets that bring color to children's homes, children's oncology and a children's hospice.

Red profile picture for same-sex marriage

Thousands of users replaced their Facebook profile image in March 2013 with the logo of the Human Rights Campaign: in the color red (for love) and the pink equal sign, they demonstrated their solidarity for same-sex love. Concrete figures, how many people have participated, do not exist. But Facebook announced that on that day after the call, compared to average Tuesdays, about 2.7 million users exchanged their image more.

A horse for Rumi

Six-year-old Rumi from New York City wanted nothing more than a horse of his own. He decided to sell some of his toy in the park to save for the animal. There he met the photographer Brandon Stanton, who impressed the boy's passion. However, keeping a horse in NYC is almost impossible for normal earners. Therefore, in consultation with Rumi's mother, Brandon launched a fundraising campaign on the indiegogo platform to enable the boy to spend a holiday on a horse farm. Within a few hours, much more than the required sum was achieved! What was left aside from Rumi's riding holiday, Branden donated to an organization that allows riding lessons for children with disabilities.
