"I knew that I would regret not being a mother"

At the age of 25, Lacey Dunkin began thinking about her future - would she marry? Could that be in question for her? As unsure as she was about marriage, she knew exactly what she wanted: becoming a mom.

"When I thought about my life for a while, I realized that I did not need marriage to be happy - it's okay not to marry," says the 32-year-old. "What I knew, though, was that for a lifetime, I would regret not being a mother."

In 2011 she got permission to adopt a child. Only a few months later, she received the all-changing phone call - her mother's happiness was even faster than hoped. The special? Lacey should not only give a girl a new home, but four sisters!

For me it was out of the question to separate the girls

"I do not know why I was suddenly so determined to immediately agree to the adoption of four children, but I did it, for me it was out of the question to separate the sisters - either all or none at all."

A few hours later the girls were already on their way to Lacey. At this time, she still lived with her parents in California. Sophia, Melanie, Natalie and Kaylee built a very special, close relationship with their adoptive mother. The family happiness of the Dunkins seemed perfect at first.

So I was nominated in the Motherhood Dare to post a picture that makes me proud or happy to be a mom. I chose this ...

After 9 months, the biological mother filed for custody

After nine months together, the birth mother of the girls suddenly claimed custody. Lacey also learned that another baby, Lea, who lived with another family, should also return to her mother.

"About a month after this message, her mother called me and asked if I would have the youngest of the sisters, too, and I was startled at first because I knew how hard that decision must have been for her has been thinking about this move for several weeks - and the fear of being convicted by her family has also played a crucial role. "

Her decision to have the fifth child in Lacey's care shows how much this mother loves her children. She knew that was best for her little ones, and that Lacey would never separate the sisters.

Lacey learned that there was still a sixth child on the way

During the one-year adoption process, Lacey learned that the mother was expecting a sixth child. Of course it was also a home for this little creature.

"They bring so much happiness and chaos into my life - without them, it would be boring and feel empty, it is an honor for me to be their mother, they fill my heart with happiness.

After three years together with her girls, Lacey finally has the feeling that her family happiness is perfect. The seven ladies live in Fresno, California and master life together like some real power women.
