Nine books that you should read with over 40 necessarily

There are simply books that bring you further in life. Because they have a very special message because we can learn from them or because they are really fun. We picked out seven very special and really good copies, which always go anyway? but above all, women around or over 40 will be interested.

1. "My gentle twin" by Nino Haratischvili. Why? Because it is incredibly well written and you get the story of the siblings of Ivo and Stella delivered three things at once: a thriller, a thriller and a love story. Great drama and deep abysses, which one probably only gets to grips with its extent from a certain age.

2. "Fuck Beauty" by Nunu Kaller. Why? Because it's a smart book that explains why we're as beautiful as we are? and why we should not let others persuade us. Although that is always trying. 96 percent of women worldwide have something to complain about, only four percent are really beautiful. Reading could help.

3. "Anna Karenina" from Leo Tolstoy. Why? Because it is a classic that pays off. Also much easier to read than "war and peace". Sounds smart anyway, if you know him and is also a really, really rousing story.

4. "The end of loneliness" by Benedict Wells. Why? Because it is infinitely sad but so wonderful that you miss something if you have not read it. That the author was just 30 when this book was published is absolutely secondary, because the book contains so much wisdom that you can not believe that the guy is only one day younger than us.

5. "Single Mom: What it really means to be a single parent" by Caroline Rosales. Why? Because, of course, it is especially interesting for single parents, but also for those who want to become or do not want to be. And most of them split up between the ages of 30 and 40. It's also honest, entertaining and at the same time encouraging.

6. "There Are No Grown-Ups: A Midlife of Coming-of-Age Story" by Pamela Druckerman. Why?That Pamela Druckerman is a bank, as far as smart entertainment is concerned, we know at least since "why French children are no nuisance". Anyone who knows and likes this should definitely read the new book by Druckerman. ? everyone else, too. It is very wise, funny and extremely sincere about life as a "fortysomething". We even do that in English, at least as long as the whole thing is not in German at least.

7. "My ingenious girlfriend" by Elena Ferrante. Why?For those who have not started the quadrology around the two Italian friends: Now is the time. And best of all, there are three others that you can read right afterwards.

8. "Free down" from Margaret Stokowski. Why? Actually, you should read this book at 14 and not 40. Unfortunately, that did not happen yet. Spiegel online columnist Margarete Stokowski tells how it is to grow up as a girl in Germany. A really provocative plea for change, which we can then give to our daughters.

9. "Mommy needs a drink." Diary of an exhausted mother "by Gill Sims. Why?Only the title is very inviting and understanding, right? Are not we all a bit exhausted? And do not we (almost) all need a drink? Good, then you know.

We asked elected officials what books they read in their downtime. Here's what they told us (April 2024).
