New sex study: men do not feel like it

Professor Frank Sommer from the Institute for Men's Health at the Hamburg University Hospital Eppendorf wanted to know more about it: with his six-member research team, he went Expert in male sexual disorders the question of what sexual preferences men have today. He sent Questionnaires to 10,000 men - and found out that in German beds is not much going on. This is due to stress as well as too many female hormones in men.

The facts

• While there was almost no day without sex in the 18-30 age group, it seems to be the exception today. "How often do you have sex?" This question was answered in a study 30 years ago with 22 to 28 times per month, today it happens according to the surveyed men not even half as often: namely only four to ten times a month.
• Men between the ages of 31 and 40 have even less sex: three to six times a month is now normal.
• There is no such thing as a hot number among the 41- to 50-year-olds: they are satisfied with two to three times a month.
• Much less is not possible? By all means: 51- to 60-year-olds have a maximum of twice sex - at least in the month and not in the year.

The reasons

• Career high and sex deep have in the view of the physician summer a lot to do with each other: The high pressure to perform in the job was blamed for the doldrums in bed. "There are sociological studies that state that today's job is supposed to deliver three times the performance of what he did ten years ago," says Sommer. In the evening, the energy was simply used up.
• Men's bellies are lust killers. Not because they look unsexy, but because in the abdominal fat the male testosterone is converted into female estrogens - and they are anything but pleasurable in men (as opposed to the female organism). "The imbalance of hormones has a negative impact on drive, performance and libido," explains Sommer. Especially beer weakens the potency, because in the hops brew often additional phytoestrogens are included, which are converted by the body into active estrogens.
