Mallorca: Bays from the picture book

Also, those who believe that they have landed on the drive through the resort of Alcúdia straight in the Touristenvorhölle, should stay calm and just continue. Because the road does not lead to hell, but to heaven. Almost.

As you know, you have to earn admission to heaven. Before you can strip off the steaming hiking boots and plunge into the waters of the secluded bay of Platja des Coll Baix, it takes a good two hours to hike. But as befits a decent paradise, the trail is almost as spectacular as the destination.

Leave the car at the Ermita de la Victòria on the peninsula Alcúdia. After about an hour's gentle climb through the pine forest, you reach the summit of the 446 meter high Talaia d'Alcúdia - and marvel at the view of the wide, sweeping beaches of Pollença and Alcúdia. Then it's not far to Platja des Coll Baix. Scramble through forests and over rocks to the very bottom, drop ballast and continue running: into the fresh, clear water.

Info: Who wants to visit the Platja of the Coll Baix in the context of a circular hike, can read the route in the "Rother Wanderführer Mallorca: the most beautiful coastal and mountain hikes" by Rolf Goetz (Bergverlag Rother, 14.90 euros).
