Ingredients for 4 bottles of eggnog:

  • 250 grams of sugar
  • 500 milliliters of milk
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 yolks
  • 250 milliliters of rum (54 vol.%) Or double grain

Make eggnog yourself: The preparation

  1. Boil half of the sugar with the milk and cinnamon sticks. Remove cinnamon sticks and set aside.
  2. Whisk remaining sugar and egg yolk in a bowl on a hot water bath with the whisk of the hand mixer until frothy.
  3. Pour the hot milk to the egg yolk mass and continue beating with a whisk until the mass starts to thicken. Pour through a sieve into a bowl. Allow to cool for about 3 minutes.
  4. Slowly stir in the rum under the egg cream.
  5. Fill the eggnog into clean bottles (contents approx. 250 ml) with cork, iron or screw cap and add one cinnamon stick each. Close the bottles and let the liqueur cool down. Store cool.

Tip: If you prefer a light vanilla flavor instead of cinnamon, stir in a packet of vanilla sugar or the marrow of a vanilla pod.
