Warsaw? in which century do we actually live?

© imago stock & people

Socialist Classicism of the Stalin era, French town in the 90s, futuristic architecture of the 21st century? Warsaw has something of everything. Those who get their coffee, croissant and a free seat between beauties and hipsters in the bistro "Charlotte" on the Plac Zbawiela (www.bistrocharlotte.com) in the morning, can hardly believe that this is the ugly Polish capital of yesteryear. Warsaw sees? in the university district or on the magnificent boulevard Nowy Swiat? hardly any different than other European cities. However, there are more parks here that are so big that you can best explore them by bike (for example, the Azienki Park, the Park of Baths). Do not miss any of the palaces, such as the imposing Wilanów Palace (www.wilanow-palac.pl), where women sell fresh strawberries from the garden. But after breakfast we go first to the beach on the right bank of the Vistula, in order to make further plans for the day.

The latest meeting place of the Warsaw scene is the "Warszawa Wschodnia", a restaurant with show kitchen and terrace in the old factory "Soho". Polish cuisine with French accents (Ulica Minska 25, tel. 0048/695 53 29 15, //gessler.sohofactory.pl).
