Jason Momoa: With this hairy gesture he wants to save the environment

Jason Momoa, 39, lives up to his reputation as "Aquaman" and is even ready to part with a special friend who has been with him for seven years: his Khal-Drogo beard! In a video released by the "Game of Thrones" star on his Instagram profile, he sets with a heavy heart to trim the beard - until his chin is completely bare in the end.

"2012 is the last time I've shaved," says Momoa in the clip in which he finds himself in an idyllic landscape that is contaminated with plastic garbage. So he shaves his beard now to "point out that plastic is destroying our planet," Momoa said.

Is that the solution to environmental problems?

A much better alternative in his eyes presents the Hollywood star also in the clip: cans. They are made entirely of aluminum and, in contrast to many other types of plastic, that can be 100% recycled. "You drink the can and in about six weeks they are 100% new - infinitely recyclable," says the star in the video.

That his beard is a special victim, is obvious. Only when he was seen as a bearded giant in "Game of Thrones", his career really fired. Thereafter, the facial hair was a constant companion, such as in the surprise movie hit "Aquaman" from last year.
