Hatred for the Beaver: The Truth about Children's Hotels

City mom Caroline and country mom Lisa also have something in common: the desire to write. Together they wrote the book "I think I'm kicking a kid" (dtv)

Our blog favorite: City or country? All of us have been concerned with this question before. In Stadt-Land-Mama we get impressions from both worlds, highly entertaining and undogmatic written down by Lisa and Carolin, two sympathetic women with whom one would immediately undertake a country game or city rally.

The truth about children's hotels

Hey Lisa,

so finally home! We were not far away, only in the Allgäu, but with a toddler and half household are two hours train, then suburban train and then fly always an experience. As you know, Pausti and I had booked a children's hotel for the first time, so beautiful in the mountains. And that is very special. For better or for worse.

For the education of all: Children's hotels are hotels that work like all-inclusive clubs and in every detail strive to prepare your child the best vacation of his life. On the other hand, this in turn means that you as a parent should be able to relax a maximum and can, because your child is only so happy with joy and is constantly busy. The program includes u. a. Swimming school, ski school for the little ones from two years, Kinderbufees, play worlds. And of course the hotel mascot, in this case a beaver, who sings as a big plush figure every evening and says hello at dinner. Yes, Lisa, some people like that too much, but the little ones love it, and there are hysterical scenes when the beaver wants to go again, because the guy in there wants to smoke a cigarette or have to pee or something.

As I said, there is bad and much good in such a parallel universe called Kinderhotel. For my part, I would say that I am grateful for the experience that I do not want such a holiday for the first time. Unless I spontaneously get triplets, then maybe ...

And because so many of our readers have written to me, who wanted to know which one to recommend, I have set up a pros and cons list. Then everyone can decide for themselves what he books.

The positive sides:

- Your child is ACTIVELY busy the whole time. You are air, because there is too much to discover. Climbing frames, cars, the petting zoo, and then of course you can borrow toys for the room. Oh so: If that's not enough, child care from morning to late at night there are of course. And the kids (I've seen that with the elders) really enjoy going there. Because otherwise you miss something.

- That's why the parents are in a good mood. Go skiing, read a lot, enjoy the excursions and come down really well. That's why I feel really relaxed after ten days in Allgäu and then the weekend in Munich. Normally you would like to go to the family after the first day Kita, but this time ZERO. On the contrary: I left Maxim, who is still coughing a bit, at home again today.

What we would then also disadvantages:

- Where there are many children, there are also many evil viruses. So angry that they fooled our maxim after four days. Well, it was not that bad. He had a fever for four days and then it was gone. So two healthy days left at the Kinderhotel. The four days it has already annoyed. Drive to the pediatrician, protect, read aloud, barely go out, just a simple infection. That would not have happened so fast on a city break.

- The crucial nerve factor in such cases is the beaver. Because he does not stop. This means that even if you are traveling without your child in the hotel and the surrounding area you hear children's music, the beaver also wails past your dinner while your child is up in the room. Then it comes to acute beaver hatred states. There is hardly any escape. Maybe still in the spa area, but then asks the beautician also during the manicure after your family planning.

- And then maybe a small disadvantage: It is often a bit too cozy for my taste. To experience a little bit more, a bit more real life outside of the toadstool playground I need then ...

And what do you say, Lisa with three kids? Do you like club holidays?

All the best,

Your caro xxx
