"Finally be winner ..."

Already as children Gamser (Sebastian Bezzel) and his friends Franzl (Michael A. Grimm), Gustl (Antoine Monot junior) and Leusl Peter (Simon Schwarz) competed against Dorfler (Nicholas Ofczarek) and his team in the bobsleigh. But as good as Gamser was at that time as a driver, he is still so bad when it comes to building a competition-capable sled.

"Finally be winner ..."

Once loser - always loser

Germany 1952: Years later, Gamser and Dorfler are still the worst rivals. Gamser finds it difficult to stay afloat with his pregnant wife Rosi (Liane Forestier). Quite different is the Dorfler, who not only stands brilliantly with his beer brewery, but after a thrilling finals wins the World Championships in bobsleigh and thus is allowed to travel to the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo. When Gamser learns that alongside Dorfler's team, a second team is allowed to travel to Oslo, there is only one goal for him: he also wants to participate. He tries despite alienation and disputes between his former friends to persuade them to set up a team and face the challenge - a race against Dorfler and his team.

Being there is everything

Together the team around Gamser manages to get through the qualification and thus to Oslo. Hardly arrived in Norway, new difficulties await the German athletes group. After bad preliminary rounds, the prospects for an Olympic medal are anything but rosy for the team around Dorfler, as well as for Gamser and his friends, and the dream of a victory for Germany is a long way off.

That is not enough, it comes to all sorts of confusion away from the competitions. Although the delegation assistant Mr. von Hase (Bastian Pastewka) tries not to lose control, he succeeds in stepping into even the smallest of faux pas. But whether the team around Dorfler or Gamser will carry the personal and also an Olympic victory, is not revealed here. Only so much: It win those who - sometimes contrary to their own principles - opt for completely new ways. For who does not dare, who does not win.

Director Marcus H. Rosenmüller ("Who Dies Earlier Is Longer Dead") brings with "Heavy Boys" a humorous comedy in the cinemas, which tells a true story of the German bobsleigh team. With a lot of wink and a story about true friendship, the movie invites to a fun-filled cinema experience.
