While "High School Musical" 2006 was still a surprise hit (160 million viewers worldwide, reported the "Newsweek"), there are no doubts for the second part. At the US premiere in August, 17 million viewers sat in front of the screen. The soundtrack of "HSM 2" immediately conquered the top of the US charts and may like to take the same path as the previous album from Disney's point of view - this was best-selling album of the year 2006, won a Grammy and the Billboard Award.

The story is quickly told: Troy (Efron) and Gabrielle (Hudgens) are high school sweethearts. In the first part, they found love during rehearsals for a musical at their school - and despite the intrigues of the rich and showbiz-trained siblings Sharpay and Ryan got the lead roles in the play. Well, in the second part, the school year is over, and in the summer holidays, the young people want to relax - and job. The clique around Troy and Gabrielle gets summer jobs in a posh country club.
What they do not know: Sharpay's and Ryan's parents are in charge here, and the rich little daughter (matching the Paris Hilton look) has threaded Troy's summer job just to tackle the broad-shouldered Sunnyboy. While she teases him with flattery and a college scholarship, his friends have to work. The dispute is programmed, of course, the happy ending of the film as well. And there is always a reason for singing and dancing - whether revue-like in the swimming pool or in modern battle form on the sports field.

But why not every generation leaves its "Grease" feeling? The second part is still kidding into the present, the songs are a bit rockier - the composer Robbie Nevil (was already for "Destiny's Child" active) and Matthew Gerard (also provided Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson) already know what they do. And as a coronation you treat the sweet couple even a tiny kiss. And the girls still no bikinis.
So, nothing happens that would make an American parent worry when the kids turn on the TV.
Does Part 3 follow?
Now only the main characters would have to stick to the script for the public. Do not talk about their trips to Las Vegas during filming in the Mormon state of Utah. And Vanessa Hudgens, who tells the press phrases like "my idea of having fun running through a water fountain," has to keep quiet right now when she's being talked about on her nude photos circulating on the internet. But silence can be gold, especially if you're in the middle of negotiating part 3 of the colorful teenage fun. That is turned, is already out of the question. Success? Guaranteed!
