Drought in the middle of Germany - first water bans issued!

The summery May weather has its first drastic consequences: Due to the hot weather of recent weeks, the soil is partially dried out, the bit of rainwater that comes from the sky, immediately seeps away. And it's even worse: now the drought has an impact on the drinking water!

In parts of Lower Saxony, the drinking water supply has become so bad that the first prohibitions had to be issued. Because especially in the evening, the pressure in the line drops massively trickles in some places only from the line.

Splashing and car washing prohibited

The result: The drinking water association Stader Land has published an official notice prohibiting the wasteful use of water. As long as the dry season lasts, for example, no paddling pool can be filled more and no cars are privately washed. These measures are intended to reduce water consumption and to relax the situation.

The weather situation remains hot meanwhile - with view of thunderstorms: In the coming days it is to stay summerly in whole Germany, but also to crack again and again.
