Berlinale 2019: The movie "Synonymes" wins Golden Bear

The Israeli director Nadav Lapid (43) has won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale with his drama "Synonymes". Members of the International Jury around Juliette Binoche (54, "The Better Life") selected the film with Tom Mercier, Quentin Dolmaire, and Louise Chevillotte, in which a young Israeli moves to Paris to become a Frenchman and find himself best movie.

The German filmmaker Angela Schanelec was also awarded, she won for her film "I was at home, but" the Silver Bear for Best Director. Meanwhile, the Alfred Bauer Prize received "System Sprenger" by Nora Fingscheidt. The film is about a nine-year-old girl who falls through every pattern of German child and youth welfare.



Also awarded at the Berlinale was the "Grâce à Dieu" ("Praise be God") strip by French director François Ozon, who won the "Jury Grand Prix". The Silver Bear for Best Actress went to Yong Mei for her role in "So Long, My Son". From this strip comes the best performer, this prize went to Wang Jingchun. The two play a couple in the Chinese family drama.

Maurizio Braucci, Claudio Giovannesi and Roberto Saviano (for "Piranhas") have been awarded the Silver Bear for best screenplay. Rasmus Videbæk was also honored for the camera in "Stealing Horses" for "Outstanding Artistic Achievement".
