Because her daughter was bullied, this woman now earns millions

Julie Deane broke her heart as she saw her eight-year-old daughter withdraw more and more. The little one was bullied at school, even came home with bruises once, reports "CNBC". On that day, the mother swore to send her children to a private school? only the money was missing the Briton back in 2007.

Her only employee was her mother

Converted 630 euros had Deane in that time left? almost 30,000 too few for the private school. So she decided to start a startup. Over a cup of tea, she got the business idea: She would produce satchels!

She made the first prototypes out of cereal packets and brown wrapping paper. The logo of your company? "The Cambridge Satchel Company"? she drew with the Microsoft Office program "Paint". The only employee the founder could afford was her mother.

"I needed someone who works hard, gets along with my temperament and does not want to get paid, so that's just my mother."

With design, business plan and logo, Deane went in search of a manufacturing company that would produce their bags cheaply and initially in small quantities. On page 16 of her Google search she finally found a Scottish retailer who did not have her own website, but guaranteed the info Deane needed: the address of a manufacturer.

Unfortunately, the trader did not want to share his knowledge with the Briton when she asked him about it, but Deane did not let up: she called him every 30 minutes, until he traced his source.

Breakthrough at New York Fashion Week

Deane had 3 satchels produced, her children acted as models for the pictures on the self-programmed homepage. In 2008, "The Cambridge Satchel Company" was officially founded.

The decisive breakthrough came Deane then in 2010. She had her bags sent to some bloggers, so that could be seen at the New York Fashion Week? 16,000 orders from around the world were the result. From then on it went steeply uphill. Today the satchels of the Briton are sold in 120 countries. Your company is worth a good 50 million euros.

Your daughter is out of school by now? but her studies should probably be funded now.
