Ulrike cooks: Super healthy Acai Bowl for breakfast

I do not know about you, but every time I browse through Instagram, I stick to the beautiful, colorful images of superfood bowls. And every time I think: "Yes, it would be nice if it were on my table in the morning, but when should I get up there?"

Although I'm actually one of the organized people who make a lot of work before lunch, this effort is too much for me.

But now I finally dared to dare to go to an Acai Bowl? easy to test how long it actually takes to create such an Instagram-ready recipe yourself. Lo and behold: The breakfast bowl is finished in no time and looks great! With so many colors and fresh fruit getting up is also more fun.

Açaí? And you should really eat that now?

Acai berries (actually: açaí) I knew previously only by hearsay. I have never used it myself in the kitchen. This was partly because I was unsure how to pronounce them for a long time? By the way, one says "Assa-i" and not "Akai" - but on the other hand, that one does not get the berries in Germany pure and that they are not so cheap in powder, juice or puree form.

But since the powder should be very productive, I finally got access. You will find it on the organic shelf of many supermarkets, but also in drugstores or of course in the health food store. The smell of the powder is surprising at first. Very fragrant, a bit like moist soil and still fruity.

A little superfood can not hurt

Acai berries are among the superfoods: the miracle berries of a South American palm species that have been traded for some time as a slimming and anti-aging miracle. TV icon Oprah Winfrey raved in her broadcast of the many antioxidants that should give a younger, firmer look.

Antioxidants trap free radicals to slow down the aging process and prevent disease. A little prevention can not hurt, I think. Vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids make the superfood complete.

Recipe for the Acai Bowl

For my Acai Bowl I make a mush from acai powder, banana, avocado, almond milk and cocoa powder. It is the base of the bowl and is then garnished with lots of fresh fruit and granola to guarantee a serene, healthy start to the day. That's done in ten minutes. While the ingredients for the acai porridge are all coming together in the blender and blended nicely there, the only thing that takes a bit of time is cutting the fruit. And of course, do not forget to decorate, because if I treat myself to breakfast for a colorful Superfood Bowl, then right!





Ingredients for 2 servings of Acai Bowl:

For the porridge

  • 2 teaspoons of acai powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh blueberries
  • 1 banana
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 200 milliliters of almond milk

For the topping

  • Granola of your choice
  • banana
  • fresh berries
  • ... everything else you are so hungry for

Preparation:

  1. Puree all ingredients in the blender and let it process to a fine pulp.
  2. Pour the porridge into a bowl and garnish with fresh ingredients as you wish.
