That's how beautiful Germany is!

The Wadden Sea in the north, the Alps in the south, Müritz and Oder in the east, the Harz in the middle, the Eifel in the west - nobody has to drive long in Germany to discover landscapes in which man has barely intervened. Where the marmots whistle in the forest, the cormorants nest on the sea, and circles circling above the mountain peaks of the golden eagle.

The Bavarian National Park was the first German National Park to be established in 1970 - almost 100 years after the US designated the Yellowstone National Park as the first protected area in the world. There are now 14 national parks in Germany.

The national parks in pictures

The Malerwinkel on Königssee in the Berchtesgaden National Park. The lake is up to 190 meters deep, its fairy-tale color thanks to the minerals in the water. We recommend a ride on the electric boat, which glides almost silently over the water.

There are currently around 30 lynxes in the Harz: For a few years, the shy wildcats have been resettled after being exterminated almost 200 years ago.



National Park Berchtesgaden: Foehn clouds in the last light between Watzmann and Watzfrau including children.

National Park Lower Oder ValleyFreed from ice, the first green in the air emerges from the air in the flooded lowlands. The water brings along important nutrients.

Duckweed covers an alder sump: The national park Jasmund lies in the northeast of Rügen, Germany's largest island - between Sassnitz and Lohme.
