In France, police finally seized Josephine and Gerrit. A vacationer had recognized the student. Three years have passed since then. And the lovers have continued their romance? against all resistance.

Because Josephine's parents were not at all excited about the liaison of their daughter with the married relative. They forbade the contact, the young people even, as Josephine tells us today, admitted to psychiatry. But finally, a court ruled that the then 15-year-old may live with her ex-uncle? the child's welfare was not endangered.

Because: Josephine stressed again and again that the 32 years older Gerrit H. forced her to nothing. On the contrary.

He about her: "I do not want to experience anything else"

For the first time, both spoke publicly about their love. In an interview with RTL, the 49-year-old architect enthuses about his former niece and current partner: "It is unbelievable and incredibly structured, I do not want to experience anything else." At first he dismissed the feelings as a whim of the young girl. "I wanted to avoid that by putting it off, because I had a family I did not want to abandon."

But then Gerrit H. realized: "This is deep, honest love." Likewise, Josephine assures that she has not been manipulated by her uncle. "What I really love about him is that I can feel so much at home with him," says the 17-year-old, "I just feel safe with him".

Wedding already planned

Meanwhile, Josephine and Gerrit live as a couple in Berlin. They are sure that their love holds. For the coming year, the two plan their wedding, first in the circle of friends, later perhaps then again "on the Caribbean island or so," as Josephine considered.

"We're definitely happy," she says? "because we finally managed to live at least somewhat in peace".
