The Kelly Family has been floating at the top of the wave of success since their comeback. But while Angelo, Joey, Jimmy, Patricia, John, Paul and Kathy are currently touring the world and Maite and Paddy are concentrating on their solo careers, one thing is missing: Barby Kelly. The now 42-year-old has not appeared in public for a long time.

Several years ago, her brother Jimmy explained why. In an open letter on Facebook he wrote:

I would like to tell you that for many years Barby suffers from a mental illness that makes it impossible for her to live alone, to care for herself or to take responsibility for her own life. She must be under constant supervision. This disease is a serious matter that has been treated for years with strong pharmaceuticals and under medical supervision.

The pressure eventually became too much for Barby

The public pressure on Barby would not have been good for her. He was therefore in favor of not getting Barby back to the big stage. "The professional pressure of a big stage and the public leads to a favoring of their illness."

Almost five years have passed since then and 'Bunte' has asked again. Kathy Kelly explained that her sister was already doing a lot better. "She's a thousand times better, you're fine."

Barby even recorded two songs for the current album 'We Got Love' by the Kelly Family ('Baby Smile' and 'Stand By Me')

"She sings a lot, she knows all the lyrics of the songs, and I'm also a big fan of Barby." On tour, the 42-year-old will probably not come yet. Let's hope that Barby's condition continues to improve.
