Oh man, my friend is more romantic than me!

Romance is completely off me. What can I say? I just can not come up with the idea of lighting candles, would never choose the "Love songs" playlist on Spotify and often find an action movie with little action much more entertaining than a romantic comedy. My friend is very different. He writes page-long love letters for our anniversary, surprises me with thoughtful gifts and puts the candles on the table before he even starts the starter for the? Dinner for two? prepare.

What went wrong?

Sometimes I wonder if I am wrong. Of course I think predefined role models total nonsense. Why should not the guy in the relationship be the one who provokes great emotions with small gestures? And anyway: I would like a little more romance.

But how does one become a romantic? When searching for the answer, I come across the following problem when searching the web: All texts are addressed to men. Am I really the only one who is that way? And I'm afraid my friend will think I got stuck on a trip if I showered him with rose petals or greeted him with a circle of candles. But there also stands: It's the little things that count. A post-it on the bathroom mirror (that should be feasible), a nice text message (I get out), an unexpected gift.

Romantic aberrations

So I do just that in the days that follow. I leave red lipstick hearts on the mirror before going to work, shopping on the way home for the favorite dessert from the shop around the corner and surprising my friend with football tickets. And when I get home, I do not, as usual, the uplight on, but the candles on the windowsill. "Is everything alright?" My friend asks confused? ?Did something happen? Do you have a bad conscience because of something? There is not another, is not it? "No, no, no?" I reply. "I just wanted to be romantic !?

Oh, my friend says with relief. ?Well then.? And then we eat frozen pizza on the sofa and watch one of the old Bud Spencer and Terance Hill films, where they constantly give the evil one the bell. Maybe that's the true romance. Ours anyway.
