Madonna sings "Imagine" for the victims of Paris

As part of their "Rebel Heart" tour Madonna also gave a concert on Wednesday evening in the Bercy Arena in Paris. To illustrate her sympathy with the victims of November 13, she sang - wrapped in the French Tricolore - the Marseillaise. But that's not all. After the official show, the singer turned to her fans via Twitter: "I'll sing some songs at the Place de la République right away.

Shortly thereafter, Madonna actually stood with her son David in the square. "Everyone knows why we're here," she said. "We just want to sing a few peace songs to spread love and joy and to honor the people who died four weeks ago." Since the attacks of 13 November, the Place de la République has become a central place of remembrance, where daily new candles and flowers are laid down.

"We are a heart and our heart can beat in one bar," said the singer to her fans. "The power of love is greater than the love of power." In addition to John Lennon's "Imagine" she also sang her own pieces such as "Ghosttown" and "Like a Prayer". Madonna has a very special relationship with the city: "I came to Paris for the first time at the age of 20. And that's where I decided to make music, thank you, Paris, for planting this seed in my heart!"
