"Our society is not ready yet"
"Yes, we would very much like to have children!" Confessed the fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer (51) in an interview with Bild-Zeitung. But he fears that they would suffer from having two fathers. "I would have liked to adopt a child. But, I think our society is not ready yet. "
"I do not want my child to go to school and everyone says, 'You have two fathers!' He knows many children who grew up in homosexual relationships. "But, I think people still have to get used to it." At the moment they are not tolerant enough for that.
"You just have to hold on"
Kretschmer is confident that times will change. Although we were experiencing a backlash in terms of tolerance at the moment, he still believes that "we'll be ready someday, you just have to hold on. You have to keep the flag of decorum and confidence high."
Kretschmer has been with the artist Frank Mutters (60) for 32 years. The couple lives in Berlin and Mallorca and has three dogs. Since 2012, the two are married.
