Four weddings and one death: cult comedy gets a short film sequel

With "Four Weddings and a Death", one of the most beloved British comedies of the 1990s appeared in 1994. 25 years later, a sequel should finally appear, as the charity Comic Relief confirmed. The film with Hugh Grant (58) and Andie MacDowell (60) is to receive a successor as part of the "Red Nose Day 2019", ie for the good cause. Small damper: Although many of the original stars are back with it, but it is only a short film with the title "One Red Nose Day and a Wedding" come out.

Older, but not wiser

In addition to Grant and MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, John Hannah, Rowan Atkinson, James Fleet, David Haig, Sophie Thompson, David Bower and Robin McCaffrey will also perform. In addition, Comic Relief announces that special guest stars will appear. The script for the short film is by Richard Curtis (62), who had written the script for the original at that time. In addition, Mike Newell (76) to take back on the director's chair.

"We are definitely all older - but I guess not wiser," jokes Curtis in an official statement. It was great fun figuring out what had happened to all the characters - "and now they come together one last time for a fifth wedding". Not everything is going to go according to plan, as Curtis can already report.

The short film will air on March 15 for the first time on "BBC One" and in May also in the US. Whether "One Red Nose Day and a Wedding" comes to Germany, is currently unknown.
