Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry: The royal couple visits an exhibition about Nelson Mandela

Duchess Meghan (36) and Prince Harry (33) in the footsteps of the legendary freedom fighter Nelson Mandela (1918-2013). The royal couple visited the "Mandela Centenary Exhibition" together on Tuesday. The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate will be posthumously honored with an exhibition in London on the occasion of his 100th birthday on 18 July. On arrival, they met Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela, 39, a granddaughter of Mandela, and later Andrew Mlangeni, 93, a very close friend of the late president. Mlangeni was also a political prisoner and was imprisoned with Mandela for 27 years on Robben Island Prison Island off Cape Town.

The free exhibition is divided into six different topics: person, comrade, leader, prisoner, mediator and statesman. The visit of Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry also honors his grandmother Queen Elizabeth (92). Since Mandela was released from prison in 1990, he has maintained a close relationship with the British royal family. As the US magazine "People" reports, the Queen always lovingly remembers these encounters. The exhibition will be open from July 17 to August 19 at the Southbank Center in London.
