Do you know the 6 risk factors for breast cancer?

The "McGrath Foundation" launched the first "Breast Health Index" this year? and collects data on the general knowledge of the Australian population on breast cancer.

"Breast Health Index": What is behind it?

In the index, which was published on Tuesday, the breast cancer knowledge of many women was queried. It was not only researched which general knowledge about risk factors and disease are present, but also whether the women themselves regularly palpate or perceive changes in their breasts.

The results are sobering:

  • 73 percent said they had a good knowledge on the subject, but only 4 out of 10 women knew that getting older is a risk factor for breast cancer.
  • Only 1 in 10 women could name all risk factors correctly.
  • Nearly a quarter of women had ever talked to their mother about breast cancer.
  • Only 15 percent of women were really aware of the treacherous disease.

"This is scary because it means that there are a significant number of women who think that they have an awareness of the disease, that they recognize changes in their breasts and often check their breasts - but do not know What really causes breast cancer, "said Petra Buchanan, CEO of the foundation.

So what are the risk factors for breast cancer?
