Daniel (5) should get glasses? then the bad diagnosis

Stephanie Downing from Plymouth (England) notes that her son has trouble seeing. She goes to the optician with the five-year-old to have a harmless eye test done.

But Daniel does not get new glasses. Instead, the optician advises urgently to take him to the hospital for further examinations. He has a bad suspicion.

An MRI brings certainty

An MRI confirms the suspicion: Daniel has a malignant brain tumor. The doctors fear that he will not stay longer than nine months. Even chemotherapy increases its chance to survive only conditionally.

Far away from home

The little one is treated in Bristol, 320 kilometers away, far from home. For the mother, there is no way to sleep in the hospital with her sick son. She has to stay in private.

A friend of the family has now started a donation campaign on 'JustGiving' to support the family financially. "It's a high cost, but in such a time, a mother should not have to worry about it," says friend Biff Lynch. So far, 15,000 euros have come together.

It is to be hoped that a small miracle will happen and the therapy will still be effective for Daniel. Then more treatments could follow.
