After church: mother rescues daughter from raging car - and dies
Mother's Day, a day you can enjoy with your mom and thank her for life. But the day ended for the 16-year-old Jenna Aluska from Lindenhurst, New York, is simply unbelievably terrible.
When Jenna and her mother Diane came out of church on Sunday, the mother-of-three noticed a backward-running Toyota approaching them. At the very last moment, she tore her daughter aside and was overrun by the car.
A short time later Diane died as a result of her serious injuries in the hospital. "There's no doubt she saved her daughter's life," the police said.
The driver was 80-year-old Ann Riolo, who suffered minor injuries. She was accidentally in reverse in her automatic car, racing toward the footpath - and caught Jenna's mom.
