Where should I study?

The bad thing about growing up is: All of a sudden nobody takes the decisions anymore! You have to spend hours mauling your brain and lie awake all night, because your thoughts keep turning in circles. Unfortunately, we can not accept the decision on where to go after school. But at least we can feed you with information that will hopefully make the decision easier.

The study location

Of course you will spend a lot of time in seminar rooms and at your desk during your studies ... But there is still life besides the university! That's why you should definitely look for a place where you feel comfortable. Our tip in advance: Look at the cities and universities that are suitable for you. On a first visit you can see how and if you like it.

Near or far?

To answer that, you should first clarify for you: How important are family and friends to me? Can you imagine being separated from them for months, or do you want to be able to see them every day? The choice is yours. And the decision is type-dependent. Not everyone is looking for the great freedom - but just as little everyone wants to sit on Saturday morning with the parents at the breakfast table.

Big or small?

It's getting more strategic here. On the one hand, the dear money comes into play: Between small and large cities, the cost of living varies considerably. Discuss with your parents how much money you have and see if you can BAföG are entitled. Then the kind and the offer of the university are added. While the range of specializations and courses is larger at a large university, small study institutions score with the easier personal contact with the lecturers. And last but not least there is the job offer. Internships and student jobs will be easier to get in larger cities - as the supply is simply bigger. Of course, you will also find many interesting medium-sized companies in smaller cities - only there are the places for jobs or internships limited.
