When the sinuses ignite

Anyone who has caught a cold often does not give his body enough time to completely recover. Whether job, family, friends, sports or other hobbies - the hectic everyday life often leads to the cold on the light shoulder. But beware: A banal cold may also spread to the adjacent paranasal sinuses. The result is an acute sinusitis, also called acute sinusitis. In a healthy person, the secretion of the paranasal sinuses flows into the nose. However, if the nasal mucosa is swollen, for example due to a cold, it can no longer flow away unhindered. It builds up and the narrow communication paths between the nose and its sinuses become blocked. The result: An unpleasant feeling of pressure in the forehead, cheek or jaw area, which is caused by the stuck secretion, arises. Typically, pain increases when the head bends forward or when bending down. Many sufferers also suffer due to the stuffy nose under a limited taste and smell.

The first step to a free head is a free nose

To alleviate the symptoms of acute sinusitis, among other things, herbal drugs from the pharmacy are suitable. They loosen the secretion, which is stuck in the paranasal sinuses. Nasal sprays such as Otriven SinuSpray 0.1% supplement the treatment, because they cause a rapid swelling of the nasal mucosa. If the access to the paranasal sinuses is free again, the secretion can flow unhindered out of the sinuses. Thus, the feeling of pressure in the head also decreases. The flavorings menthol and eucalyptus, which are contained in Otriven SinuSpray 0.1% in addition to the active ingredient xylometazoline, give those affected the feeling of being able to breathe better again. If the head is free, everyday life can soon be mastered as usual.
