"Thick or lesbian, then do not wear our clothes!"

For just € 1,369 it is available: a short, figure-hugging dress of the French brand Hervé Léger. For such "bandage dresses" the luxury house is famous. The noble stretch fabric acts as in individual tracks (or bandages) wrapped around the body, hence the name.

The effect of the design developed in the 1980s: eye-catching dresses that emphasize every curve of the body. No wonder that the "bandage dresses" in ever new variations and like to be worn on the red carpet - stars like Elle Macpherson, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna and Kate Winslet are declared fans.

"Voluptuous" women should stay away from the clothes

Patrick Couderc will have no objection to these ladies. Other women, however, he would rather not see in the hose dress. Couderc worked for the company 'MJH Fashion', which owns the licenses for the French fashion label in the UK. In an interview with the British newspaper, The Mail on Sunday, he said "lush" women and those with "broad hips and a flat chest" should stay away from the "bandage dresses".

Even older women who say they have to "show everything as if they were 23," Couderc says little. But that's not all. He could not imagine even gay women in the dress. "If you're a confident lesbian and wear pants all your life, you would not buy a Hervé Léger dress anyway." Finally, one likes it then rather "burschikos and cozy".

A man who wants to prescribe women, what they can and can not wear - is it still possible? No wonder Couderc's comments caused a lot of excitement. For example, the American actress Margaret Cho revolted on Twitter with clear words:

Fuck fashion and 'designers' that body shame @HerveLeger #wecanwearwhateverthefuckwewant #boycottherveleger

In the meantime, Hervé Léger has also reacted. In a letter they distanced themselves from the statements: "The brand 'Hervé Leger' by Max Azria and its subsidiary, the 'BCBGMAXAZRIA Group', are shocked and appalled by the statements of Patrick Couderc (...) These statements reflect in no way the ideals or views of both companies (...). " The cooperation with Couderc has ended.
