The Celtic cross and other laying systems

"Celtic cross", "me and you" - Tarot and other laying systems

When laying cards according to a certain laying system, the meaningfulness of a Tarot, Lenormand or tipper card combines with the meaning of the position on which it lies. At the same time, it relates to all the other cards with which it was designed together. At least two cards belong to a laying system, in extreme cases even all 78 cards of the tarot can be drawn and laid out in a certain order.

As examples you will get to know a few tried and tested classics under the laying systems. However, you can always invent your own layout system. The important thing is that the display really suits the question that concerns you and that you make a binding decision with yourself about which position should mean something.

"The little cross" (4-5 cards)

A cross with four to five cards can help you to illuminate the current situation in its various aspects. Conceivable questions to the cards are for example:

How should I decide? What should I do? Where am I?

"The Celtic Cross": the high school (10 cards)

The absolute classic among the laying systems is the Celtic cross. This well-known and oldest laying system with ten cards answers many questions at once.

The order and meaning of the cards in the laying system is relatively fixed. A Celtic cross is laid out as follows:

The respective position of the cards then means:

1 That's it ? it's all about this; your initial situation, the topic that concerns you

2 That crosses it ? promoting or obstructive influences on the topic

3 That crowns it ? your conscious thoughts on the situation, your rational self

4 That's what it's resting on ? your unconscious feelings about the situation, your emotional self

5 That was before ? crucial events from the past that have led to this situation

6 That comes afterwards ? this is how it will continue in the near future

7 That's the questioner ? your personal attitude to the topic

8 It takes place there ? that's how other people see it; inhibiting or supporting impulses from the environment

9 These are the hopes and fears ? your most important expectations, wishes or fears

10 There it leads ? the result, your longer-term future

The Celtic Cross is particularly well suited when you have reached a crucial turning point in your life, or as a regular situation check on your birthday or at the turn of the year.

The "I and you" Tarot

The simplest placement system is to draw two cards instead of a single question or day card and then face them directly. This variant is called? Me and you? -Tarot, also called "two-card tarot" or "pros and cons" -tarot. This can look like this, for example:

The "Three Card Tarot" (past, present, future)

Three cards are particularly well suited to make you aware of which process you are currently in:

What's coming? What will happen?
