Sheep wool is very common and also known under the name "fleece". If it comes directly from the animal, it is called "new wool".

Pure virgin wool differs depending on the type of sheep in the nature of the individual fibers and can thus be fine or coarse. After the shearing the wool is sorted by quality and color, combed and finally spun into yarn.

Sheep wool repels dirt and barely absorbs odors

Sheep wool is very popular because of its good properties. The sheep's fiber absorbs excess moisture and does not feel clammy when worn. It repels dirt well and absorbs hardly any odors. Sheep wool clothing does not wear out quickly and stays in shape for a long time. Processed as a sweater, jacket or scarf, it keeps you warm even on cold days.

Thanks to its elasticity, it can be entangled pleasantly and is also well suited for the first knitting tests. If it happens by mistake to once ugly stitches, they can easily be smoothed again with a little steam.

Sheep wool should generally only be cleaned by hand washing. If it is also suitable for the wash cycle in the machine, it is marked accordingly.
