Roseanne Barr: That's how her first TV appearance came after being thrown out

A good two months have passed since actress Roseanne Barr (65) was fired after a racist tweet from her hit sitcom "Roseanne". On Thursday night, she made her first appearance on US television about the incident and its implications. At the station Fox News - the preferred TV station of US President Donald Trump (72) - she spoke with host Sean Hannity (56). Once again, she justified her tweet, spoke again of a misinterpretation and was nevertheless carried away to another swipe towards Valerie Jarrett (61).

The comedian left out about Jarrett at the end of May and wrote, "If the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby, it would look like Valerie Jarrett." Then the actually successful revival of their sitcom "Roseanne" was discontinued. It has recently been confirmed that US broadcaster ABC will release a spin-off titled "The Conners" in October. Barr will not play a role in this and will not be financially involved.

"Valerie, let's talk that out"

Roseanne Barr jokes at the beginning of the segment on the tweet: "I was hacked!" Sean Hannity said: "You have not lost your sense of humor!" Barr explains that she was "so shocked" that she was accused that the tweet was "racist" rather than "political" as she felt. To call her a "racist" was the worst thing she could think of as a Jew, especially since she grew up with Holocaust survivors.

"I apologized a lot, it was two months ago," says Barr. She feels that she has apologized and explained, asked for forgiveness and paid compensation, "that is part of my religion". She is "very sad" that people believe that the tweet is racist. She could not believe that this triggered a racist debate: "Why could no one see my work?" "I made a mistake that cost me my life's work," she says. She wished she had expressed herself better.

Finally, she speaks directly to Valerie Jarrett: "Valerie, let's talk that out." However, she does not believe that Jarrett knows what she is really about. Barr has not spoken directly to Jarrett since the tweet. The actress is afraid that Jarrett would shout at her and hang up immediately. "I'm so sorry you thought I was a racist and that the tweet was racist, because that's not the case, it was political," Barr says in the cameras. It was a misunderstanding.

She continues, "And I'm sorry I hurt you and you got hurt, I did not want that, and I'm sorry for that, I never wanted to hurt anyone or say anything negative about a whole race of people, mean mine 30-year career can confirm. " Then Barr adds, "And I would tell her that she needs a new haircut, seriously, she needs a new hairstyle."

A reaction from Valerie Jarrett is still pending.
