Roberto Cavalli designs for H & M

When the sidewalk becomes a catwalk

For weeks, this message is already in my head and I can not think of anything else: H & M and Roberto Cavalli want to make common cause in November. Cavalli is wonderful: his brilliant color choice, the sparkling details and then the stunning cuts. Unfortunately, I have never had the pleasure to wear one of these noble pieces. Because so far I could not afford it. A creative connection between the Swedes and the Italians suits me just fine.

In 2004, Karl Lagerfeld brought the catwalk onto the sidewalk for the first time and collaborated with the fashion giant H & M. The result: A week later, numerous Lagerfeld models populated the city's boulevards. However, an association with the Chanel designer would have been difficult, would not have been his likeness in the focus of the collection.

The looks of Stella McCartney barely a year later possessed more of the designer's signature style: classic cut and feminine details like ruffles or bows. Just like with their prêt-à-porter shows. The fact that the designs in dove blue and strawberry red hung somewhat listless on the hanger, my shopping frenzy did not detract.

Viktor & Rolf then sneaked into my heart last year. In the "love collection" of the detail-crazy avant-gardists, hearts were in the foreground, as embroidery or applications. As a highlight, there was even a limited wedding dress of the Dutch duo.

Avarice is cool - now in fashion too The motto "Design does not have to be expensive" has finally arrived in the fashion world. Fashion victims can indulge themselves completely in the buying spree and do not even have to stop at designer labels. Even if some resist the "stinginess is cool" mentality. Such as Muiccia Prada: She was to join the ranks of Lagerfeld & Co. in 2006, but declined with thanks.

In any case, it does not seem to bother Roberto Cavalli that his creations can be purchased soon from 40 euros. On the contrary, the celebrity designer recently said he thinks it's great to make a collection for the younger ones who can not afford his fashion. The approach is great, Cavalli too - and that's why I'm going to do only one thing on November 8th: go shopping!

Who is Roberto Cavalli?

The Italian designer Roberto Cavalli is one of the greats in the international design circus: stars like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham wear his fashion. If you're looking for an unobtrusive look for every day, your designs are bad advice - Cavalli is wild, glamorous, sexy.

Roberto Cavalli: Nature is his muse

Cavalli, born in Florence in 1940, started to be interested in fashion at an early age and experimented with various materials and techniques. When he developed a new process for printing on leather, Hermès and Pierre Cardin became his clients. At 30, Cavalli unveiled its first collection of its own, which was made especially successful by ChroniquesDuVasteMonde Bardot: she walked barefoot through Saint-Tropez in his printed jeans with leather patchwork. Cavalli got quiet in the 80's, but since the beginning of the 90's he and his fashion, with a touch of drama, are back on the most important catwalks in the world.

Whether leather, fur, feathers, zebra and Leo prints or floral patterns - Cavalli makes use of his designs in nature again and again. "For me she is the 'greatest of all artists' - I will never stop being inspired by her," he says.
