Pretty strong: What women achieved in 2017?

2017 was an exciting year! Granted, sometimes it felt like the world was made up of more construction sites than open roads. It always happens too much shit? and that was not different in 2017.

But because we tend to pay more attention to the negative anyway (old survival instinct), would we now like to focus on the positive and remember some of this year's empowering achievements? yes, that's it!

1. Iceland: Equal wages by law

At the beginning of the year, the Icelandic government passed legislation to guarantee equal pay for women and men. Iceland wants to completely close its gender pay gap by 2022.

2. Norway: Equal wages for footballers

Not quite as blatant as Iceland, but at least: The Norwegian Football Association announced in autumn that national women in Norway now get as much money as their male counterparts.

3. Germany: Bibiana Steinhaus whistles as the first referee in the Bundesliga

On 10 September Bibiana Steinhaus made her debut as the first referee in the Bundesliga at the match Werder Bremen against Hertha BSC.

4. France: For the first time, a woman receives compensation for sexism

A court in Marseille ruled that the railway company SNCF must pay a former employee around € 120,000 in compensation. In the 80s, she became the first female conductor to be discriminated against by SNCF and bullied with slogans like "women have no business on the train".

5. India: Supreme Court declares "Talak" practice unconstitutional

In India, according to a Muslim tradition, men were allowed to dissolve their marriage by saying the word "talak" three times (or by whatsapp, email or text message). This custom has the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional in the summer of this year? and Indian Muslims for the first time granted a say when it comes to divorce.

6. Afghanistan: The women's channel Zan TV is launched

Zan TV is the first TV station in Afghanistan to give women their own voice. Zan TV has been on the air since June.

7. Saudi Arabia: driving license for women

In September, the Saudi king lifted the ban on driving women. From the middle of next year, women will also be allowed to obtain a driving license in Saudi Arabia.

8th Germany: Andrea Nahles is leader of the SPD

Hard to believe, but true: Never before had the SPD in its more than 150 years of party history a female group leader. Andrea Nahles is the first woman to take over this post.

Clear: It's still viiiiieeeel air up and we still have a weeeeiiiiten way in front of us? but for starters 2017 was not that bad ?!

CRAZY STRONG & WOW! MOMENTS 2017 ????????????(Must SEE!!!) part.36 (May 2024).
