Official: Facebook also reads private chats

Up to 87 million users are said to be affected by the data scandal on Facebook. The company has now almost casually explained in an update, which is about the plans of the social media platform in terms of data protection. So far, it was assumed that about 50 million users are affected.

Facebook: That should change now

As of April 9, users should be able to see a link in their newsfeed, among other things, to check which apps share information. Users should also be able to remove apps with which they do not want to share their data. As part of this, users will finally learn if their information has been transmitted to Cambridge Analytica.

It was recently announced that a company camouflaged as a survey had spied on Facebook users. The operators of the application are said to have used data from around 320,000 users and their friends without their knowledge for the US election campaign.

Zuckerberg wants to stay boss

Marc Zuckerberg, founder and boss of Facebook said: "We have the responsibility to protect your data." If he could not, he would not have the right to serve his customers, apologized Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about two weeks ago. From a resignation as a boss or similar measures was now nothing to hear? Zuckerberg wants to keep his post despite all the allegations.

Officially: Facebook reads chats

In an interview, Mark Zuckerberg has also confirmed what many have long feared: The company can read all private chats in Messenger - and possibly censors. In the past, calls for violence that users wanted to send via Facebook chat have already been censored.

This confirms that Facebook has computers that can read and analyze our chats. What they do with the data, however, remains unclear.
